You're greasy Diablo, as greasy as they come.
I guess it is not a fact that the 4/25 ABCT isn't redeplolying. The MEB isn't standing-up either. It is also not a fact that the economy isn't struggling right now and people have lots of disposable income. There is no proof that lots of people redeploying will need any housing plus Anchorage has unlimited land and houses/ apartments in the $1,000 to $2,500 range. If you need more you just make more. Ford, GM, and Chrysler products will not be in short supply because nobody wants a truck anyway especially if you have been saving all year and only have $20,000 to blow on a vehicle. None of these are facts.

I have also never seen the military blow into town like a swarm of locusts and clean everything out. Especially considering that the time period in discussion, after Christmas to April 14, is known as the most important shopping period of the year. The fact that the PFD is at all time record high only proves your point that I can't back up anything that I said.

Your assumption that stores will account for and be ready for the things described above is really only an assumption. All of the other things will actually happen.

You are right, I wasn't paying much attention when I wrote it either.

Someone having just moved to Alaska is probably going to be needing the basics, rather than the newest latest motorcycles, guns, electronics, etc.
I don't think the OP needs to worry about buying anything in Anchorage at any time.

Default Wanting to move to Anchorage also!!

My boyfriend and I are wanting to move in March or Aprill this year. We are coming from S. Dakota and planning to drive a Mitsubishi Galaunt. Is that a good idea? What will the weather be like at that time? Is it hard to find a job there? I'm looking for a waitress or bartender job. I also have 3 kids. Is it hard to get medicade there?

If you have room for it, take the kitchen items. I had a hard time restocking my kitchen due to the high cost of housing and food. Spices too.
