Hello,

I moved in Ann Arbor just a month ago, and I don't know many places to have picnic near Ann Arbor. Gallup Park that I only know. It's small and crowded most of the time.

I'll have guests next week. A couple and 5 lovely children. I'd like to take them to a nice place to have some fun and picnic. Would you recommend any?

It could be far, that's not a problem.

Thanks in advance!

Default Huron Clinton Metro Parks

Here is the website for the Huron Clinton Metro Park system.

Huron-Clinton Metroparks

Ann Arbor is located near the middle of this long chain of parks. Almost any activity that interests you; be it golf, canoeing, kayaking, mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, roller blading, or just laying about with a frisbee and friends can be accommodated in one or more of the parks.

Add to this the long list of Ann Arbor City Parks, the UofM Arboretum, State Parks and Recreation Areas near Pinckney and Brighton, etc., the list goes on and on.

You are in the perfect location, you just didn't know it!

The State of Michigan came out with a cool new app today you can download for free on your smartphone (iphone, droid or blackberry). It automatically finds the closest park, place to swim, camp etc in Michigan based on wherever you are. It's called the MI Camping and Recreation Locator.

Iphone = MI Camping and Recreation Locator for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on the iTunes App Store

Blackberry = BlackBerry App World - MI Camping and Recreation Locator

Droid = https://market.android.com/details?i...on.ui.activity
