Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder and wife moving into $2M condo in downtown Ann Arbor | MLive.com

Currently, the Synders live in a gated community nearby in Superior Township and presumably will sell that property, though the article doesn't directly say.

I realize that Ann Arbor's real estate prices are inflated as compared to the rest of the region, but I still don't see $2 million there. Then again, I'm no fan of downtown Ann Arbor. Our daughter goes to U of M so I am in AA more often than I would normally be, but I find the downtown to be pretentious and congested. Parking is usually a nightmare and everything seems so crowded together.

If I had $2 million to spend on a home in the AA area, it would out in the country with some acreage. Different strokes for different folks.

I don't disagree with you there, but I think downtown wouldn't be as expensive if the city hadn't put a strict limit on high rises. If they hadn't, then it would only be the top floors of the tallest buildings being expensive (or the most expensive) while at least the bottom floors or other properties could still be relatively affordable.
