this is what i miss about Germany, the clock towers and how they ring. as there are none in miami, the clock towers give it a special feel

I was born in Louisville KY and that clock has always been an eye catcher! Love it to this day....I was just telling my husband about it the other day. You could it really good when the JFK bridge crossed into Indiana. Rene Hensley

Wrist watches only became popular in the 1920's, so clock towers came in handy back then. Prior to that, I read that in China they had city employee's that would each have a district of the city where they went through the streets all day shouting out the time of day.

Sather Tower on the campus of the University of California, Berkeley. It's the third-tallest bell-and-clock-tower in the world. It is more commonly known as The Campanile, as it resembles the Campanile di San Marco in Venice.
