Haven't watched HGTV for a while but caught the end of yard crashers.
The couple had a lovely home and a nice sized yard with a jacuzzi, swing set
and make shift fire pit. They never did a thing, other than buy the jacuzzi.
I can see someone who has at least tried to do something to beautify their
yards but ran short of money and time, a veteran who has been away, a disabled
person...you know what I mean. Of course, the back yard looked great
but they never tried or wanted to exert themselves to begin with.

Why should the lazy be rewarded? That's why some HGTV shows never
"sit well" with me.

Maybe this should be in the House forum?

Sometimes life gets in the way of plans.

Maybe, but it was limited to interior design, architecture and garden links. I was wanting to get imput
on people who are lazy and the "I want it all now!" attitude whereas others who had to work
hard or at least try to get what they want.

I think the show wants a clean slate to deal with. Less emotion involved with the homeowners if they haven't done anything the show has to work around.

I don't think the point of the show is:

a) to make judgements about why people have or have not improved their yards;
b) to determine who is lazy and who is not; and
c) to "sit well" with you.

Tell me again what this has to do with architecture?

Because it is related to a house and HGTV is about homes.
And no, it doesn't sit well with me when the show picks people with a sense
of entitlement and who were very able bodied and not financially deprived.
They didn't want to get their hands dirty or break a nail.....that's the
type I was referring to. Would you want to live next door with a house
full of weeds, grass that is over a foot high and see those neighbors
"soaking in their hot tub?" Meanwhile, you take care of your home
and care about your neighborhood as well as your neighbors.

OP you sound very jealous. These people are not assessed for their character, previous efforts and attitude about life. Nor are they picked for need. It comes down to who is willing to let a strange TV crew into their lives.
