Has anyone built a house with a zero step entrance? My understanding is that this type of entry is similar to a commercial entry where the concrete slopes up to the building.
Building what would be deemed an ADA compliant home requires several “steps”. It’s not just a ramp (regardless of the material used) that has an incline of no more than 1/12 (1” rise for every 12” of run), but the threshold at doors could be no more than a 1/2” in hgt. They could be 3/4” in hgt if there’s an additional slope or ramp that precedes the threshold.
One of the biggest issues with some homes meeting this criteria is it’s geographical location and annual weather. Some homes just require more height at the foundation than others- so consequently the path to the entry door becomes longer to meet the slope requirement.
Then there’s all the other things once inside the house.

Yeah, 1:12 slope ramps take up a lot of room and you have to have min. 5’ square level transition area for a switchback (really, more like 10’x5’) and then a rest area landing every 30’ if straight. Trying to get up just a couple of feet would take over your whole front facade or yard area in most compact lots.
