So what is Gov Jan Brewer talking about? Where is she getting her information? Makes one think about the issue and what’s being said by so many. When I check other sources of news and reports it appears that some things are misstated for some reason. And yes ,,, you need to read between the lines at times to understand what's being reported.

Interesting report by USA TODAY, Myths mar efforts to solve nation’s immigration woes.

Our view on Arizona law: Myths mar efforts to solve nation's immigration woes - USATODAY.com

Myth #1: Violence along the border is spiraling out of control. Appears to be a myth.

Myth #2: Illegal immigration is surging to record numbers. Appears to be incorrect and another myth.

Where and when did the governor ever state that Illegal immigration is surging to record numbers? Maybe I missed that.

As far as violence on the border spiraling out of control, that's a subjective call. We have dead ranchers and border patrol agents whose lives might have been spared if we had better control on the border. I don't see how anyone can claim our border is under control.

The US side of the border may be safe, but the other side certainly has turned into a lawless shooting gallery. It is not even safe to go across and shop at Nogales anymore. It'll never come here? Don't count on it.

Well no, it isn't. That's what crime statistics are for. When honestly collected they provide valuable information about where resources should be used. One or two anecdotal reports are exactly the wrong things to base public policy on.

If the people in Arizona want a safer place to live that should be their choice. If some 'study' claims to prove it's better than it was before that doesn't mean that things are satisfactory.

Excellent point! The people of Arizona have a right to determine their own comfort level of safety and security and to not be forced to compromise for the political life and ambitions of Barack Obama and the Democrats.

Good point, Kdog.

One Death or One Attack on any Law Enforcement Officer is too many as far as I'm concerned.

Violence just south of the border is WAY up, and some of that has begun spilling into the U.S.

Do we count the reports of uniformed troops coming across the river, some escorting smugglers or do we dismiss them as an oops or too infrequent to mention?
How about the constant barrage of "rocks" (boulders to most people) that are tossed frequently at officers causing vehicle damage as well as severe phyiscal damage?

I say once is too much!

Apparently you have not been following current news and events in Mexico. Yes violence is out of control and getting much worse. Read up - there was a car bombing last week in Ciudad Juarez, the violence is out of control.

Phoenix, Arizona is the kidnapping capital of the world - second only to Mexico City. Illegals are holding illegals for ransom and torturing them until families pay up.
