Im an RVer whos heard SO much about Quartzite in the winter time , that im wanting to go for the month of Feb. (Cant get away any sooner) . Would like an overview of the Quartzite experience from an Arizona perspective , do u think it is relatively safe with hundreds of thousands RVing there, whatever else you wish to share. Thanks.

They have a yacht club.

Quartzsite Yacht Club - Quartzsite Motel, Quartzsite Restaurant & Bar, Hi Jolly's Outpost, Internet & Espresso Café

I know the place gets pretty packed in the winter months. Beyond that, I have no other info....

Quartzsite is safe with so many RVers parked all over the place. I have been going to Q since the early 90's but I stopped going a couple of years ago. There are fewer vendors there than 10 years ago thanks to the town gouging them to set up their booths. You can pretty much see the whole thing in about 2 days.

In the old days, there were lots of people selling stuff on both sides of I-10 and you could spend many days there. There were hot air balloons, hang gliders, a small midway and sometimes fireworks. There were thousand of RV's parked all over the place almost out to the horizon. Maybe it's the gas prices, but there weren't as many RV's there the last time I went.

You should also visit Laughlin when in the area Laughlin, Nevada - It's Like You Own the Place - VisitLaughlin.Com There is a nice big RV park across the street from the Edgewater Hotel/Casino with hookups and a pedestrian bridge over the highway to the casinos. There is a small outlet mall down the street. The river is nice too.

Think "Mad Max" on Geritol, absolutely crazy how many RV's are boondocking out there. My company is a supplier of motorhome parts and I went to every part of Arizona that has RV parks last winter. The impression I got of Quartzsite is that it attracts every vagabond element in the country. So you will run into retirees, biker gangs, hippies young and old and other various assortment of people. Interesting place to people watch.

It is safe and a good place to buy junk. If you like swap-meets,trailer parks and a landscape that looks like the surface of Mars it might be for you. I however did not care much for it. It is fun to look around for a couple of hours then I wanted out but I had to work there for 2 more months. There is only one hotel in town and it is over priced and every room smells like a hobo died in it because one probably did.

After visiting most of the retiree hot spots in Arizona, if I had to pick a place it would be Lake Havasu. Then you can go down to Quartzsite for daytrips. I would not to spend more than 5-6 hours in Quartzsite, too many people and it just seemed like organized chaos.
