Yes. For some, insects can be a big problem. When you're riding on a motorcycle in the spring and summer, always wear good eye protection. When you get out on the open road the bugs are the size of tomatos. Only the're black. When they hit, they knock you back. If you run into a swarm, the wife has to hose you off.

There are areas in the valley (around Phoenix) where no matter what u do you will have scorpians...some people live with them every day. When I lived in the valley I never saw one. I was lucky enough to live in some high end apartments....yet still saw roaches. Its the first time I ever saw a roach. At night they would be all over the place....disgusting. Sure, you can have them spray every month....I was not comfortable living with constant spraying of pesticides to get rid of them for a little while. Bugs love hot weather .... so you definetely get more bugs there. Here in NY I am much happier for many reasons....even with the mosquitos.

Scorpions are a reality in Phoenix and the desert parts of Arizona. But a lot of the stories posted here are overblown. I recommend using the "Advanced Search" feature at the top of the page and reading the old threads.
I've never heard of roach problems except here on C-D. I'm sure some places have issues with them, but I doubt there is any kind of wide-spread problem.
Bugs love hot and humid weather. We have the heat but generally not the humidity.

Not quite, seaflea!

Granted, bugs love hot weather but very few, if any, prefer dry weather.

Search the threads you will find thread after thread on our bug issues.
Here is some info on skeeters and west nile here: pr_detail
pr_detail
You can always call up any local exterminator and they will tell you the kind of bugs they get calls on the most here. They are the ones that really know. You can also google AZ pest control and their web pages will also give you an indication of what people hire them for, what kinds of bugs they are worried about, etc.
