My wife and I are considering wintering in BHC from early December to late March. We live in Iowa but have spent the past several winters on the Pacific coast of Mexico. We visited BHC briefly in mid May to get a feeling for the layout of the city, and we loved the desert! We are aware of winter temp averages in BHC, the amount of sunshine and the wind. My wife and I enjoy outdoor activities such as running, bicycling and swimming. My wife is concerned that she will have to wear a jacket and possibly gloves during daytime activities in December and January. On the other hand, I have been trying to reassure her that once the sun is out, the desert climate seems a warmer 63 degrees than what she would experience in Iowa. I would appreciate anyone who has winter experience in the BHC area weighing in on this topic, particularly anyone who snowbirds from colder climates.

Humidity makes it seem warmer. So a dry, windy 63F temp will seem colder than a more humid midwest 63F. We recently moved to CA from Kingman, AZ which is close to BHC. 63F always seemed cold in Kingman, but seems downright balmy in San Jose.

That said, I always thought the Colorado River towns (Bullhead, Havasu, Parker, Yuma, etc), have about the best winter climate as you're going to find in the US.

It's windy in the Winter, but you could do a lot worse for a seasonal place. Great entertainment deals in Laughlin, which is more upscale.

It is windy, that's for sure. So it will feel colder than, say, 63 degrees.

We have spent two winters in our motorhome at
www.avicasino.com in a space by the golf course. There is a beach area & boat ramp on the CO river. It was in the 80's during Thanksgiving. One May, it was up close to 120 degrees several days.

We had many great times, although at times it was windy & some cold winter nights.

Have a wonderful Adventure folks.

avi is great, but I prefer to be where there is more competition between casinos. River Palms was very popular to park long term RV.

Moved from Northern MI to Laughlin/Bullhead last summer. Loved the winter compared to MI of course, but the wind can be cold. And it is windy much more than I thought it would be. If it wasn't for that I would love the winters here.

Many times you will need a light jacket, nighs get cold in the winter, but we never had to turn on the heat. I still took many long walks all winter but you would be surprised how many times I saw people wearing heavier coats, hats, and gloves. It all depends what your cold tolerance is though.

Let me just mention that those of us that have been here 19 years feel the cold (to us) a lot worse than others. Because it's so hot in the summer, anything below like 65 is freezing to us. At least in my case it is.
