Lake Havasu has a new water company named Epcor. My mother in law received a water bill last month for 900.00 $. When she called to complain and to suggest that there must be a problem, they stated that there was nothing she could do about it and that she must pay the bill. The next month her bill was 1,100 dollars! Again she called to complain and again they told her she must pay! Has anyone else had these problems? One other neighbor of hers has the same problem... he keeps getting high bills. They have both had their properties checked for leaks and problems but, found nothing unusual!
Help!

Has she contacted the mayor, city manager? Does she have copies of the old company's bills so she can see exactly what the differences are and what they are charging her for that the old company was not?

EDIT: Do a search here on "Epcor".... you will find that the same thing is happening in Anthem, and the explanation may be the same. I'd still contact the local city management, though.

My business is outside the city limits of Havasu and the water is also provided through EPCOR. Our July and August bills increased 10 fold. So we did a comprensive check, found a leak and as a result of repairs the September usage is back to normal. If the property is within the city limits I too would suggest contacting city officials. I would also suggest you read the water meter to verify the usage and do a thorough check for leaks.
