Question about horse boarding in Arizona.

Are the horses fine just standing in small runs, which are mostly in direct sun day after day?

I am moving to Arizona soon and am completely open as to where to go. If you could move anyplace, other than the cold northern part of the state where would you go? I am planning on renting an apartment and boarding my horse. I want to be able to leave the stable and ride for miles and miles every day.

Also, what should I expect to pay for full board around Arizona?

I think horses should always have some shade, in any part of AZ, whether they are in a 16 by 16 pen or larger, or in a pasture situation. If they get some exercise regularly, (and riding for "miles and miles every day" would qualify ) they do fine in the small runs.

What you pay for full board "around Arizona" depends on where you are, the type of facility and what "full board" entails at a given place. What are you paying now, and at what sort of place? Are you just looking for a place where you can have a pen, they feed and clean, and you just come and ride off the property? You should be able to find something like that in a lot of places in AZ. You just need to decide where YOU want to be, and go from there.

This site will give you access to maps of all public lands in AZ, which will allow you access to "miles and miles" of riding. Choose an area based on your criteria.
