Congrats!
I was wondering if you had indeed made it to town. Looks like you settled into a pretty decent area as well.
You are correct with Californians moving this way, for the price they get from selling there home they can pretty much buy whatever home they want here.
Beale Street is a happening place after the sun goes down and weekends we just don't wander that way often.

We're getting around like we've lived here forever and have found that people are very friendly and helpful. We've eaten at some great restaurants and I even went to the Quilt Show last Friday in Old Town.

When we were here in Aug. looking at homes we did take some time to look around the area but just quickly went through Old Town. Friday when I went to the Quilt Show, I took a better look at all the shops and was pleasantly surprised at how many there were. I'm going to take more time to get acquainted with that side of town. We missed the car show last weekend because we didn't know about it until it was over but I'm marking the calendar for the next one. We're avid classic/antique car lovers

All-in-all...we love Kingman and we're so glad we made the long trek from PA to AZ

One more thing....I asked the gal at the MVD today if there were a lot of retirees like us moving into the area and she said there were some but mostly they were from CA. I thought that was interesting.

I've heard about Beale St. Def more stuff to do there than here in Bullhead since I'm NOT a "party animal" and the casinos don't do it for me either.

What Packard? You mean wandering around Wal-Mart isn't a "night on the town?"

We were at Beale St. last week. There's a number of nice little shops and places to eat. It is a reviving area. It's kind of what Bullhead's "original" area could be. As for night life, well... I wouldn't be expecting Prescott's "Whiskey Row." LOL

I like the cooler temps though. Height helps.

Agreed. Tho our Walmart here def has fewer "odd people" than the 1 in Kingman. But our Smiths here, well.

FYI....just another confirmation today of who's moving into Kingman.

I had an appointment for a (much needed) haircut and it was my first visit to this salon. I was talking to the beautician about being a newcomer to Kingman, etc. and she told me that most of her new clients are from CA. I asked her where they're finding jobs here but she said she really had no idea. Hmmmm.....

Speaking of Smith's............it's by far my fav place to get groceries It's crowded but well worth the effort. They don't have everything that we use so I do have to visit the other two stores.

Night life??? What's that??? In our younger days we use to feel the same way, Packard Fan and Jamies, but now we consider staying up past 10PM "night life"....LOL

Not a whole lot of people making 50-70K who aren't self employed in a niche field can find that income potential in Kingman and that is a fact.
Newsflash. The Birdlands has always been the lowest rung neighborhood in Kingman. They were telling jokes about the Birdlands back in the 70's. But I seriously doubt that every single person in the Birdlands or either Butler edition is a tweaker.

What Kingman has is a great many eccentrics. It always has had. And that isn't always bad.

I was living there when Smith's opened and that store was a very big deal when it opened. We did most of our shopping there and what we didn't get there we got at Bashas'.

When I was back in 2010, of course, the town had grown, but it still seemed friendly, and just a little more fast-paced.

And I made a mistake in my post above. They might be calling it Birdland now, but back when I lived there the section off the West side of 66 with all the streets named after birds was called The Bird Lanes. I bought a '67 Corvair from someone in the Bird lanes and there used to be a house in that area that had a Kellison Astra kit car in the back yard.

Uh; I did some checking around and "Birdland" ain't Kingman city, it's county land.
