Installer leaves from worksite to go pick up some item needed for the job (or some other work related errand). Is killed in MVA. Unlikely, but it is possible. Much more likely someone would be injured on this type of job than killed, but the poster you are quoting was speaking generally, I think. That said, strange things happen, and getting caught without worker's comp insurance can be an expensive and time consuming proposition even with just an injury, so following the law is the better course.

Our housekeepers husband, is a 20+ year licensed contractor specializing in floor installation. He is licensed in 3 states.

On the job last week, he had a helper get seriously hurt on the job, bringing his workman's comp insurance into play. If that happened with an unlicensed contractor doing a job, it would be a serious problem for several people.
