I would take safforpastor's information over anyone else's that I have read so far on this board for the Safford/Thatcher area. He has lived there for quite some time and still does.

As far as the main drag goes, it is pretty flat and Safford and Thatcher are pretty much connected into one area without much break between them. But if you WANT some hills they are to be had as well.

But do go ahead with your plans to visit, I think it is a nice area.

Default Thanks, Y'all!

... Thank You to all who have responded to "PierPressure53" about the Safford/Thatcher area. DW and I are about 6-months from "pullin'-th'-cord" on retiring, and (for one) I really appreciate y'all's insights.
As-of now, we have re-opened our consideration of the Prescott/Prescott Valley area, in addition to my looking at the Safford/Thatcher areas, mainly due to DW's wanting to be close-(er) to her Family, who are all on the Left Coast. On the other hand, I would prefer to be closer to my children, who are all in TEXAS.
So, I guess we'll have to compromise.
I've already begun a plan for post-retirement, where we will make some trips to areas we think we want to relocate to, and spend some time in each, to try to get a 'feel' for how we'd fit-in, there. I know that Prescott and surrounding area is in the plan, as is the Greater Safford area.

Thanks for your vote of confidence!!!

I have lived here since 1975 and am a shameless proponent of the area...

We do have our problems like any area but I love my town with a passion and will probably die here....(not anytime soon I hope)

This is a good town.

My beautiful daughters love it here and they have much better taste then their dad.

Yup.
You can pretty much take anything he says about the area to the bank.
I would trust his word on that area above ANYONE else's on this board. He knows it like the back of his hand. If he says something about the Safford area, take it as "gospel" (pun intended).
