A new fire is being reported outside of Show Low, at about 1000 acres and growing/moving fast. It's off Hwy 60 which the news report is closed.

They just said the trigger for evacuation of Show Low is road 65 which is 1 mile from fire but fire is moving very fast in that direction.

Be safe, be careful, good luck!

Jeeze. And that is why I never moved to Show Low. Nice area, burns up too often. Hope they fare well.

I have seen that much of northern AZ near Show Low, Heber, Overgaard, the forests are thinned properly, but not everywhere, it's always a work in progress.

Well, for what it's worth, this fire was attacked soon and well. The conditions were not quite like they were during the Rodeo-Chediski and it is well contained now. During the R-C fire, there were high temps, single digit humidity AND sustained winds of over 30-40 MPH for a few days. In this fire, there were a couple few days of the former two conditions, but thankfully not the latter.

And now because of that and the hard work of the fire fighters to create, monitor, and hold some serious lines; the pre-evacuation notices for Show Low and Pinetop-Lakeside have been lifted. Thank you weather and thank you fire fighters!!!!!!!!!!!!
