Yup! We wouldn't drive the vehicle back to PA.

So, if that 2017 has an assessed value of $25k, you're looking at a registration fee of over $700,

Arizona Car Registration Requirements & Steps | DMV.org
I'm confused. The website says "Note that the value of your vehicle is calculated as 60% of the original manufacturer's retail price, and that total will be lowered by 16.25% at every registration renewal.
For each $100 of the vehicle's value, you will be assessed:"

My car was $23,000 so wouldn't 60% of that be $13,800? If so, that number divided by 100 is 138. 138 times $2.80 equals $386.40

Deposits for utilities. If you can, get a letter of credit from your current utilities and they will waive deposits.
In my experience APS will allow a letter of credit from your previous utility to waive a deposit but SRP does not.

You are correct. It is 60% of the MSRP of the base model (individual options don't count).

There are some "bully breeds" that can be dangerous and some places will not rent to you if you have one.

Do you need to put your dogs in boarding for one or two nights when your current place is packed up, or can your mom watch them?

Along with titling your cars you'll also need insurance. It can be pretty expensive. Plan on renter's insurance as well.

I agree with JKgourmet, you should have 6 months worth of savings in place. Just in case something goes pear-shaped. Good luck!

My mom will watch them thank God.

And I know I sound like an idiot asking this, but I thought car insurance was nationwide...We have Geico. I didn't realize when you move to a different state that you need to purchase different insurance. I feel really stupid for not knowing this.

edit: okay, so they just drastically increase in AZ. I don't know what we pay now, but we pay in full and are under the same plan so it's cheaper.

If you have a lot of books, check into mailing them media mail versus packing them in your vehicle. I think you can send them media mail for like 60 or 70 cents a pound. Just make sure the box doesn't have any dimension larger than 12 inches or you have to pay extra.

The key to car insurance in Arizona is shop around. The prices vary wildly and companies have all sorts of rating criteria. GEICO might be the cheapest where you are, it might be the cheapest in one town or one zip code in Phoenix and among the priciest in another. So call around to be sure you are getting the best deal.
