To all the armchair tax experts out there:

Relocating to AZ in two weeks (hallelujah!), I just received an A-4 form to fill out in advance of my first day on the job. I'm single, no elderly blind dependent children - just me.

I looked at the tax brackets and I'll be falling into the 4.24% range for >$50,890.

So it is a given that I should tick the 4.2% withholding box on my A-4, or would 3.6% suffice because of standard deduction and the like?

It may not sound like a huge question but the difference between the two would be over $300 - and while I don't want to be under-withheld, I also don't want to give the government use of my money interest-free for a year before they give it back to me.

Any single folks out there in same boat, I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the matter.

I'm single, no dependents higher salary than you, no itemized deductions at the state level, but did itemize at the federal level. (With the new tax law, things will likely be different)

I do the 3.6 percent, and I got a $60.00 refund last year. So, it worked out about right. I've never minded them using my money, actually.
