Annoying taxes, fees and costs (Phoenix: sales, apartment complex, hotels)

I’m looking to move and investigating some different states. Can you good people tell me about some hidden costs of AZ? Here are some examples of what I mean:

Tax on grocery bags
Tax on gym membership
Tax on landscaping
Yearly car “registration” fee
Tolls, tolls, everywhere
Beach entrance fee
Garbage collection
Fire dept fee
Cell phone tax
Cable tax
Numerous state and local “fees” taken from employee checks in addition to state and local taxes
Gas taxes
Liquor special taxes
Soda tax
Additional massive taxes on hotels

You get the idea. Your help is appreciated.

Most of these vary by city or county, special jurisdiction or even down to the apartment complex level (garbage collection fee). No one here would be able to answer on behalf of the entire state.

Thanks. I assume city areas like Phoenix would have more of these types of fees?

Where they don't tax one thing they will tax something else.

Hmmm...

Tax on grocery bags: No. Easiest way of telling if someone is not from here...they are carrying their own grocery bags.

Tax on gym membership: No idea...maybe?

Tax on landscaping: Not sure what you mean here...like does a landscaper charge sales tax?

Yearly car “registration” fee: Yes.

Tolls, tolls, everywhere: Not aware of any toll roads anywhere in AZ

Beach entrance fee: Not aware of any beaches in AZ either...although there is an entrance fee to most lakes.

Garbage collection: Yes. Depends on municipality

Fire dept fee: Again, depends on where you live. Most cities, it is rolled into property taxes

Cell phone tax: Pretty sure there are taxes and fees on any form of telecommunications services...pretty much everywhere.

Cable tax: Same for TV/Cable. Pretty sure they are everywhere.

Numerous state and local “fees” taken from employee checks in addition to state and local taxes: On the most part, no, FICA, SS, State and Medicare.

Gas taxes: Again....everyone has gas taxes. They pay for the road maintenance.

Liquor special taxes: Nope, but there is a markup due to the Liquor Distribution laws in AZ.

Soda tax: ????

Additional massive taxes on hotels: Of course there is a tourism/bed tax. Most hotels have them.
