What is the current status of the ghost town of Ruby? I visited there in the '90s when a college in Tucson was giving guided tours.

A buddy and I road our baggers through Ruby Rd/Hwy 39 last October from Arivaca to Hwy 19, there was a lot of rough road. We were hoping for a nice and needed stop at the Ghost Town but it was gated closed. This was likely a Monday or Tuesday.

Thanks. In my day it was gated and closed with a caretaker to keep it from being vandalized even more than it had been in the past, so I'm not surprised it still is.

There's this:

Historic ghost town in Southwest Arizona near Tucson - Ruby.

The copyright on the website is dated this year, so that may mean it's pretty current info. Shows days it is open (not Mondays or Tuesdays) and entrance fees and such.

Went there with my wife a few years ago. Road leading to the town is pretty rough. Not much to see. There's a nice lake, with, if I recall, really white sand for beach.

Hey Rich, good to know you are still up and kicking. I remember you posting about that trip and photos of your wife in front of the bar (Silver Bell? La Gitana?) in Arivaca.

Thanks for sharing the Web Site. I had heard about the National Register status and restoration but had not heard anything for a long time. Very happy to know it is still on-going. I took many 35mm slides over the years and developed a slide show I titled RUBY, MY SECRET LOVE. Every organization to which I presented it thought it was great. I'm thinking about converting the slides to digital and making a Power Point program. Oh the memories of long ago

I just rediscovered that I have a set of six pen and ink drawings of structures of Ruby rendered by C Hues, but no date. They are have wonderful detail.
