I had someone point out that the mud lines going up my foundation were actually termite tubes and I had a bunch. I was reluctant to call a termite company because they register your home with the state so when you go to sell your home it shows up that you had termite treatment.
A few weeks ago I had someone clean off my roof and they offered to dig a 3-4 inch trench around my entire house and treat it for termites with the same chemicals the pros use for around 200. I looked up the chemical on Amazon and the reviews are excellent it is called Taurus SC.
I had my house treated and it not only killed the termites but I have not seen any roaches since I treated for termites, really amazing stuff.

Keep all of your receipts along with a record of application dates

A good number of people check the State Site before inquiring about a property !

There are two types of termites that commonly attack structures in Arizona, namely, drywood and subterranean. Unlike drywood termites, subterranean termites live underground and forage via mud "tubes" to find food and water.

Exterminators will tell you there are 2 kinds of homes in AZ. Ones that have termites, and ones that don't have them YET.

When are you planning on selling your home?
As a prospective buyer, I'd be more inclined to purchase your home knowing you had it professionally serviced.

What happens when you go to sell and termites are found during the inspection? Then you have to lay out a wad of cash to deal with them and the buyer may back out.
Get a warranty from a reputable exterminator and be done with it. It's not a big deal.

Why pay thousands to a termite company when you can treat it yourself with the same stuff for a couple hundred bucks, it was very easy. If you cannot get the same chemicals the pros use then I would agree with you but as long as I can get the same chemicals and it is allowed then why not save the money?

There's nothing in your OP stating you wanted to save money. I took this comment to mean you are trying to skirt the system.

buying the chemicals your self, and knowing how to proper apply them are 2 different topics...Always use a pro when using stuff like that, or you can cause alot of damage to your self, your family, and your neighbors..

There is nothing wrong with a DIY solution....as long as you follow the stated guidelines.

Data Sheet on Taurus SC.

A product with a "Warning" on the label is not a DIY solution
There are 3 levels of danger on Pest Control products; "caution", "warning" and "danger"

Products labeled as Caution can be used by consumers, without much chance of harm

Products labeled as "Warning" should be used by people with training in handling Pest control products, and always with protective gear and knowledge of how to safely use those products

Products labeled as "Danger" require a special license, special training, and require special precautions to be used safely

If you dont have background and training in handling pest control products, using products labeled with "warning or danger" can cause you and others around you harm

I ran a pest control company many years ago, had all the special licenses required, went through the training and education, so I know about these things, and for one, I know I would never recommend a "consumer" to apply termite products on their own, but to each their own...

The amount of work that goes into trenching and drilling for subterranean termites plus the warranty is with the $400 or so. The fact of termites present at one point won’t be a deterrent, especially if there’s a warranty involved. When I buy a home I always have it checked for termites even without the registry. It’s assumed they will invade at some point in this city.

Termidor is usually the credited termite killer, but others work fine.

well said; you dont just "spray" this stuff all over the place and think your problem is solved; trenching and drilling is almost ALWAYS necessary if you actually want to get rid of termites..
