I purchased an out of state vehicle cash in Texas, drove it home with the title already notarized and on hand. The dealer mentioned if I wanted them to charge me taxes or if I was paying cash, which I was already planning on doing, so cash I paid. I have not gone to the DMV yet to register, but how do I go about paying the taxes?

Sorry kind of ignorant on how this works, as I have purchased vehicles before from out of state through private owners but never have had to deal with paying sales tax on the used vehicles, is this because the car was acquired through a dealership?

Thanks!

Good question, Selp . . .

Unless there has been a recent change in policy, the MVD Agent will gladly take care of the entire transaction with one visit. Not only will they collect the Registration Fee and issue an Arizona License Plate along with an Arizona Title but they will also collect the Arizona State Sales Tax.

If I remember correctly, it is done in stages so be prepared to spend an hour or so but you should depart with everything you need after only one visit to the MVD. Of course, that is if all of your paperwork is complete and in order.

Good Luck.
