After completing our first 22 events with over 180 volunteers since March 19th, we’ve managed to withdraw over 5 tons of litter from Oak Creek & Wet Beaver Creek. Our hope is to use our data collected to help increase awareness of our increasingly dangerous litter problem in Sedona, improve signage at recreation areas, and help USFS law enforcement & hydrologists locate the areas sustaining the greatest land abuse to maximize their efforts. Here’s a summarized breakdown of our findings thus far:

Wow that's quite a list. I'll nominate the one above as the most unusual find.

Thanks for your efforts. Yes, way too many people are pigs. I visited a place in Colorado where I used to boulder when I was much younger. On that later visit there was broken glass everywhere, and the rocks were all covered in graffiti. Pretty sad.

I agree 100%, but this isn't just an Arizona issue. You could go to any other state in the nation (even some of the less populated ones) and find trashy people who have no respect for the recreational areas, nor anybody else, nor themselves. Thankfully, volunteers step in and get rid of this garbage, which is a job very few people would do for a salary, let alone for no compensation.
