Yes. It’s hot and getting hotter. It’s a dry heat…sometimes. If you don’t like 90-115 degree weather for 4-5 months straight then perhaps Phoenix is not a good fit for you

If you're talking Flagstaff, then very little heat. If you are talking Phoenix then significant heat and there's plenty of in betweens. To me, the heat in Phoenix is about 100 times less aggravating than the cold in eastern Washington where I lived for 30 years. I also find the heat in Phoenix less bothersome than the humid heat in the eastern USA but I know some people can handle humidity well, I'm just not one of those people.

You may want to cancel your move because of the drought and water concerns though.

Note that the heat index in Phoenix, Tucson and Las Vegas is lower than that of say Dallas, Houston and Atlanta much of the time. The humidity overcomes the absolute temperature.

So are you also cancelling all the big cities of the South East as they are actually hotter than the SW in the summer time.

And by the way the North West has been substantially hotter than the SW for the last week...so you cannot go to the PNW either.

I suggest you forget about the temperature. We came to LV from southern CA. 25 years ago and much prefer the climate to the coastal area of S. CA.

On the few days it gets above 110 we hide a bit though our cat and dog like it. The sit in the sun for long periods. We keep them watered but that is it.

In another thread you mention that you had previously lived in Phoenix. I guess it will depend on how far back that was. The urban heat island effect is bigger than it was decades ago, so overnight temperatures are higher. But I doubt daytime temperatures are a lot different.

I've lived here a bit over 15 years. I cannot tolerate the heat today like I did when I first moved here. Even though I've lost 30-40 pounds, my older body simply cannot tolerate much time in the heat any longer. We'll be moving as soon as I'm able to retire... to someplace cooler.

I mean, yes it's bad. I'd think that would be the first thing to consider. For me the question before my move was whether or not the pros would outweigh the massive con of our hellish heat. The answer was yes, I decided, but it's certainly not easy on me. What interested you about possibly moving out here OP?

Bangkok hot season is mild and half as long as Phoenix's, and Bangkok is hot all the time by most accounts, and is a gigantic heat island, too. There are some higher elevations in southern AZ that have a nicer climate than both....I just checked the 9pm temp in Patagonia, AZ.. 82F..and it is 97f in Phoenix.. huge difference.

No. It's not bad at all. Why do you ask?

I played golf in Yuma one time when it was around 115 with humidity very low (maybe 2 or 3 percent). It wasn't too bad, but just touching a club to get it out of the bag was brutal. Have to drink lots of water.
