That's because it is all relative. There is no perfect place to live. But, there are perfect places for an individuals criteria. So, one person's trash is another's treasure. Anyway, nobody likes a whiner.

But that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying either accept lists (whether you like the results or not), or don't accept lists (whether you like the results or not). Don't like lists when they're in your favor, but dislike them when they go against your opinions. Be consistent.

I wouldn't take these lists too seriously. No state is perfect, and these lists really are anecdotal most of the time. If you were to search other Top 10 States lists, you'd definitely find AZ on a list where it ranks best. I live in Connecticut, and while we may rank high for something like schools, we also have unjustifiably high taxes and a government more concerned with identity politics and political correctness than with fiscal responsibility. I guess what I'm saying is, take heart. AZ may have its flaws, but it's also a state that has amazing national parks filled with stunning natural beauty, rivaled only by Northern California in my opinion. It's also a state with more balanced political power. States always function best when there's a healthy balance of lawmakers on both teams, and in CT it's deep blue, more so than many (including myself) would like.

If this list speaks to your heart, agree, Arizona is the worst place for you. Stay out!

I can sum it up in a very few words to live in AZ....it's a ****-hole place and a corrupt government running it. Stay away if you care about your health and safety and want a decent education for your kids. It ranks the worse in the US.
It ranks close to the lowest on spending for schools, but is middle of the pack regarding results. A distinction lost on many. Would still like the results to be improved whatever that takes that is reasonable I will support.

Sorry retiredtxn that AZ gave you a rough go of it. I hope you find happiness somewhere else. I can see not knowing AZ very well and landing in the middle of the concrete jungle in a bad neighborhood and having a completely different experience than say someone living in Anthem or Ahwatukee. With all cities there are relatively bad parts and good parts. Phoenix is a weird place but some spots are awesome depending on what time of life you are in.

You must have never been to L.A. You know when you see those pictures/shows where they show downtown L.A. all nice and clear? They have to wait until the one or two good days per YEAR that it happens.

Ask me how I know.
