It’s a few weeks before the “official” slowbird season - but is anything open in Quartzite now? Any rock markets up and running? TIA

The official calendar of events is up at the Quartzsite Chamber of Commerce web site. Looks like it's all going to be open.

I saw on YouTube of a bar somewhere near Quartzsite where you have to drive up a badly maintained dirt road, some areas where it looks like only one car could pass. But once you get to the bar, there is a restaurant, live music and trails where one can hike.

I don't know the name of the place or how to get there. I take Int. 10 thru there often and was thinking of checking this place out. Can anyone tell me more about this place and how to get there?

You're probably thinking of this bar.
Insomniax Rum Bar and Dance Floor

You may be thinking of the Desert Bar near Parker. They are open in the winter and only accept cash.>

Definately the Desert Bar as posted above ^^. No electric, water, ATM's, etc. Place runs on solar.

What came of the issues a decade back with the police chief, mayor and council? Quartzsite was making national news and there was a blogger tracking all the shenanigans. Looks like the chief and mayor resigned in '13 but I think there was some legal battles afterwards. Small town fireworks can be very interesting.
