To me heat is heat. I like it below 90. Preferably mid 70's to mid 80's.
I've never heard a turkey come out of the oven and say "at least it was dry heat"

Arizona is the ONLY place I have ever lived where it got so d*mn hot that I had to put towels over my steering wheel and seat so I wouldn't burn my hands and *ss when I got in the car.

I have to say there is some truth to this. I've often said that I don't care if it's a dry heat ... you don't see me sticking my head in the oven and that's dry! HOWEVER, as often as I've traveled to Arizona, it was never in the summer until this past year. I did experience some extremely high temps in AZ and NV, and at the bottom of the Grand Canyon (went on a rafting trip) ... up to 115. I would say that I was very surprised that up to around 100 and even a bit over was not that bad. I wouldn't want to lay out in the sun, but I would take that any day over a 90 degree day in Florida in the summer with the humidity. (And I travel monthly to Florida for work .) I was just in Florida earlier this week ... it was more brutal that dealing with the 110 degree heat in LV.

It was explained to me that when the humidity is so low, i.e., at 6-7% which is what it was when we were in the GC (our travel guide had a weather station and could check this), it feels 5-10 degrees cooler.

Whats sad is that the towel trick doesnt even work. We draped some towels over my brothers' steering wheel last June, hiked for about 1.5 hours and came back to a pipin hot steering wheel after all that.

Maybe that was your first mistake. : )
I keep forgetting to get a cover for my steering wheel.

I use a windshield "screen" (the fold up kind) when parking and occasionally a towel over the steering wheel. They work fine.

I also remember to "crack" a window open a little to allow the pressure created by the heated air to escape - makes things better also.

You live here - you adapt.

Hiking in the heat of the day can be a killer - it was the other day

Good advice.
I wouldn't go without one of those fold-up screens down there.

Nah, we toughed it out. It was pure torture, but still kinda fun nonetheless. But, I wont ever do it again.
