Yep during the 1st promo tour someone dropped a camera on the glass. It resulted in being chipped. Cameras no more.
They are thinking they are close to getting approval to pave the road but has not happened yet.
As posted run and avoid the place.

At some point in time, when the newness has fallen off (and hopefully prices are stabilized) and all the amenities are in, I would like to see it along with the new bridge that bypasses Hoover Dam.

That's the word i'm hearing.

I didn't know about the dropped camera, but I did hear it was because they wanted to sell you pictures in the gift shop.

Anybody else have any information on this?

My family and I were out there just after it opened in April. After we had already driven 1-11/2 hours to the tourist station we were told it would be another 3 1/2 hours! Ugh! 4 teens in the car for 5 hours?? The man there suggested that if we were going to "spend that kind of money" going up to the lookout--we might want to fork over a little more and go by helicopter. It was expensive for 6 people--but totally worth it to see God's creation! Gorgeous!!!!!!!! AND--we got to go where there was nobody else and in a stadium seat style helicopter. WAY better than everything I've heard about the skywalk!! It really ends up only costing maybe--20-30 dollars more per person.

By helicopter is VERY dangerous though. Been way to many crashes via helicopter for me.

When my family back in the States told me about this GLASS platform over the Grand Canyon I couldn't believe. Being the glutton for punishment that I am, I just had to take a look. Watched a small video clip of it and almost "tossed my cookies." In my humble opinion, I would pass it up and go somewhere safer and less costly

Just barely getting over my fear of bridges and I see that THING of glass! No thank you!

I'm ready to go. A glass bridge? Sounds beautiful! I have no problem walking out on it. But I do feel the Grand Canyon is WAY overrated. I'll probably never go back.

Default Another scalping

First I would like to say that it is insane to have to pay 50.00 to drive on the reservation AND THEN HAVE TO SPEND ANOTHER 25.00 of your hard earned money to walk a few feet from the canyon wall. I say if this is the case, the indians should have to pay a use fee to drive on our land and shop at our stores. Another thing. After you drive all that way to see the silly walkway they will not allow you to take pictures. Oh!! but that's not a problem. You can have one of the staff take your picture for 20.00 more dollars. GIVE ME A FRICKEN BREAK !!!!!!!
IF YOU WANT TO REALLY SEE THE CANYON TAKE A CHOPER RIDE. THAT'S A REAL VIEW. THEY WILL EVEN LAND YOU NEXT TO THE RIVER. SAVE YOUR MONEY UNTIL THEY WAKE UP AND ADJUST THEIR PRICES. JUST MY THOUGHTS.

Well, that's the thing, the more I think about it, the more I think what a poor marketing strategy. The only thing that's attracting tourists to the reservation is the Skywalk. I can't imagine they are making a whole lot of money right now b'c NOBODY wants to pay that much money for something that's going to take 5 minutes!

What they should do is reduce or eliminate the entry fee to the land and have a whole bunch of gift shops or what not. We need to feel like our money was EARNED, not just "thrown away" on an entry fee! Everybody wants to spend money like they are getting something for it, not just "wasting" it. A theme park costs $50 or so but they get to ride roller coasters all day. What do you get at the reservation? Nothing but to spend another $25 to get on the Skywalk!
