Any body live in both states before?

Where is a better place for a small family from Michigan.

I may be getting a job in Either state. Please help. I never been to either place. I am not worried so much about the COST of LIVING, just the standards of living.. Schools are very important as well.

Beside weather, will either place compare to somewhat to Michigan.

Pro or Cons?

(I know this is very vague post, but any help would be appreciated.)

Thanks,

Default AZ or S. TX?

Where specifically in AZ and in S. TX?
I have lived in Gilbert (East Valley of Phoenix) and I have lived in Tucson.
I have lived in the outskirts of Houston and my husband in Austin, TX - and he has driven through W. TX and spent some time there recreationally so would know more. Houston is more SouthEast TX I suppose.
I disliked Houston area. I lived there from June to December (short stint). I disliked as was way way too humid for me. Lots of mosquitos, too.
Austin MUCH nicer.
We are leaving AZ next month to relocate back East to CT. Have lived in Gilbert 7 years and Tucson one year. Both would be major change from MI, but not too bad. Very hot and dry summers.
I have small children with the oldest just finishing kindergarten. I loved her teacher and the school. I believe she would have thrived there if we were to stay. I know nothing about TX schools.

I live in Kingwood Texas (old growth forested area 21 minutes from downtown. Its very beautiful. Humid, yes. Though doesn't seem as hot as Phoenix. People are friendly. I used to live in Phoenix. The desert is nice. Tempe is great. Cost of living is a lot lower in Houston. Houston has stronger meseums and arts. Schools are stronger in Houston. I prefer Houston

Default AZ or TX

Well I am a Texas girl, lived there all my life and have lived everywhere in that state. I am now living in AZ, and know the valley like the back of my hand.

Both states are great depending on where you live.

AZ- I love Payson, Scottsdale, and Paradise valley, all are very expensive. Mesa, Gilbert and Chandler are all really nice. I love how people are so open-minded. Pheonix and Tempe are nice, but have a higher crime rate.
The housing market is affordable right now, but I guarantee that in a few years you won't be able to buy a home without having a degree.

TX-Plenty of great areas. San Antonio-very romantic, kind of touristy. DO NOT MOVE ANY PART OF THE SOUTHEAST!!!! ESPECIALLY IN ORANGE COUNTY, i.e. Beaumont, Port Arthur. Also, beware of border towns!!! There are higher drug problems in those areas. Take it from someone who grew up in El Paso! You do not want that for your kids.

Austin and other cities are wonderful. There are really nice suburbs in Houston. Also, housing in Texas is more affordable right now.
We did a lot of debating before we moved here. Texas is more humid, AZ has only two seasons Fall and Summer (120 degrees).

Arizona has a strong economy and I feel comfortable that if I lost my job, I wouldn't be unemployed for long.

I'm from Texas, originally and have lived in Arizona for almost 7 years now. I prefer Texas. It's too dry here...

I'm from Beaumont originally and I like it there. I don't know why you people say bad **** about Beaumont. Ya'll must be talking about downtown. I don't go around there and you shouldn't either, then you don't have to worry about the drug problem,
