Hello,

This is a odd topic, but I may be relocating to AZ and am wondering if the dry air will play havoc with my contacts?
I've experienced short periods of low humidity with no real problems, but am concerned my contacts will constantly bug me living in an arid clime. Unfortunately, I'm not a lasik candidate and don't see well with glasses, so I'm stuck with contacts for now.

I'd appreciate if any AZ contact lens wearers could chime in with their experiences.

Thanks,
Joe

I've worn contacts for 15 years and have never had problems due to the air here in Phoenix. Maybe it would affect those from out of state, but I don't know. I have heard people say they use eye drops all the time out here (don't know if they wear contacts), but I don't have problems that I'd need eye drops.

I never have problems with my contacts. You might want to carry some rewetting drops just in case.

I really haven't had any problems (I wear gas permeable lens), but I must admit my contacts are more comfortable when I'm in an area with higher humidity.

My wife had some issues on our last visit, but she kept her moisturizer on her at all times and was ok.

I've lived here 20 years, so I'm used to the dry heat...and I wear contacts. I do have a lot of issues with dryness, but my eyes are overly sensitive, I think. Also, rewetting drops should help. Just be careful during dust storms. Stay inside

I've lived in AZ for 19 years and wore contacts the whole time. Some days I had no problem and others I would. Sometimes I would wake up with a dry eye. It's going to depend on your eyes, just get some rewetting drops that seems to help.

Joe,
Why not bite the bullet and get LASIK? I had RK 20 years ago and just got LASIK a couple years go. The capillaries in the eye I still wore a contact lens in started growing into my cornea so the Dr. suggested LASEK. My corneas were too thin so I had LASEK, a little bit different. I love not having to use contacts anymore.

The prices are coming down and many places will give you 0% financing for a year. Plus, one of the top guys in the business for this type of surgery is in Scottsdale.

My capillaries are growing into my cornea, too. It's been this way for a few years. Each time I go in they get worried about my eyes. I am just so scared of the risks of having Lasix. Maybe I'll research LASEK as my corneas may be to thin as well. By the way, who is the doctor in Scottsdale?
