I happen to have a quick question since I'm planning a trip to Arkansas soon.

Is Highway 65 from Pine Bluff, AR to Vicksburg, MS through part of Louisiana 4 lanes all the way through?

It's mostly 4 lane in AR but there are several sections that are 2 lane. From the LA/AR line to Lake Village and a few spots north of Dumas. Gould and Grady are speed traps.

Thanks for your comments above!

I got back from the trip last night.

Highway 65 wasn't that bad. Most of it in AR is 4 lanes except for two or three towns but only for like 3 miles at a time, which I didn't mind.

Louisiana is a completely different story. It was two lanes all the way from Tallalah (sp?) off I-20 all the way to AR state line near Eudora.

Lake Providence, LA is definitely a speed trap! The entire town was sleepy at 2 AM and I didn't see the harm of speeding at 45 MPH in 25 MPH zone. Anyway, I got a ticket after the law surprisingly appeared from the behind of an abandoned building.

I was told that AR is strict not Louisiana! LOL

I've taken the same route (last summer), to Florida...
That corridor needs to be 4 lanes... If I remember right, I think the section between Grady & Dumas was 2 lanes... Which is a 15-20 mile stretch... If I remember right.
From my experience, police (local, state) in the south are way stricter than the north.
I'm not sure if its a bible belt thing... but something I've noticed.

It's strictly a revenue thing on the tickets.

65 is being constantly worked on except for the part just south of Lake Village on the way to Eudora. That's when the 4 lane upgrade takes 82 towards Greenville, MS and the new bridge.

If took that route, then you went through Transylvania, LA and right by the Panola Pepper factory - Panola Pepper: Sauces | Condiments | Spices | Beverages | Rice .

I got pulled over on I-20 in Louisiana doing 8 over (which I thought was reasonable for interstate traffic) and was informed by the state trooper (nice guy) that "We take our speed limits seriously here in Louisiana".
