do not move my thread please, it is not a classified add...

My husband and I are wanting to be moved by March 1st. We are looking online for homes for rent but have not found many and know there are more if we could have someone just give us some information and maybe a few pictures of the home. Anyone know of any that are for rent? Nothing over 900 a month. I know we can get a great house for that if we just had someone willing to help us look there and send pictures. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Have you contacted local real estate offices? That is more reasonable than asking folks to "look there and send pictures."

There's about a hundred of them in Mountain Home, and it looks like very one of them handles rentals.

We love Mtn Home.

Our daughter, who is young, lived there a year...not such a great place for young folks. She is in LR now and much happier. For us, Mtn Home would be great--such a beautiful area.

You might want to check out the online Baxter County Bulletin for classifieds. Our DD rented a 2 bedroom, 2 bath cute little house for $650.00/month.

thanks everyone and yes we did look at places online but not many photos at all and being so far it is hard to "just pick" but we picked a house in Lakeview I think is the name of the place... they accept pets and a good neighborhood

Hi....
We moved from the Twin City area in Minnesota buying a 20 acre place in Jordan, AR, about 20 miles southeast of Mountain Home. The snow and the taxes drove us out, and we didn't figure we could afford living in MN on retirement income. Pretty sad. But the area here in north central Arkansas is beautiful. We have easy access to Lake Norfork (the lake is so much nicer than any lakes in MN) and the skies are a bright, beautiful blue. I now work full-time in healthcare and love working with the people. What is frustrating is the lack of shopping and fun spots such as theaters. The big thing here is going to Branson or Springfield. So we do a lot of online shopping. We live modestly and have room for our 3 doggies and neighbor contact is infrequent, which is fine with me. We have encountered some anti-northern folks, but there are so many of us moving from Illinois, northern Missouri (e.g. St. Louis), Wisconsin and Minnesota that we basically outnumber the locals. First thing we bought (besides the house/pole barn/carport) was a Kawasaki Mule and a pontoon boat. We had snow this past week, but that was rather unusual. The summers are hot, but I love it. If you want to grow a garden, good luck. Some folks have one, but I have yet to be successfull, no matter how much black dirt I dump in my little garden spot. There is a great farmer's market in Mountain Home that can help that issue out and you help the local gardeners. The roads here are not Interstates. They are windy and twisty, but at every turn there is a beautiful sight of lake, trees and awesome scenery. Property taxes are less than Minnesota which basically makes it for us. The income taxes here do not tax the 1st $6,000 of retirement income for each retiree and property values freeze once one of the couple reaches 65. Not that North Central Arkansas is the best place to live, but it's up there on the list....

That's the downside of living in Arkansas.

There's just so many gosh danged Arkansan's here.

What with that silly accent and all. Wearing that cammo stuff. Dippin Skoal......

Hey, keep at it.

Maybe if enough of you northern folks pool your money, you can buy out most Arkansan's (at a *modest* markup, of course), and we'll go buy a large chunk of Mississippi.

It's still a deal.
