I've heard that reception there isn't too good and most people have a land line. Anyone with experience here? Also any other opinions on HSV are welcome since we are considering buying a vacation home there that would be put into the rental program when we aren't there. I'm hoping to at least be able to offset ownership costs.

I live on the east end of the village and Sprint nor ATT would work at my house when we moved here 2 years ago. We had Sprint and had to switch to Verizon, which works fine.

My opinion of HSV is totally positive. I have owned property here since 1997 and could not wait to retire and get to move here. If you like to golf, it is a great place to live.

We looked at a lot of homes in HSV and decent cell phone coverage was a must. My wife's Verizon phone got nowhere near the signal that AT&T phones does, she got an AT&T phone right away.

You will have to check the signal at each house, it's very hilly here and nothing is going to get a good signal with a hill between you and the cell tower.

We have been in our home in the village for one month today. We already love it, and have yet go golfing or fishing.

Really good to hear that so many people love it there. I'd love to retire there - some old friends of ours did and they love it; he is a golf nut and plays several times a week. But alas, my wife won't move that far away from our kids and grandkids. Plus she has several more years before she can retire. We have Verizon phones and are hoping for the best. The agent did tell us that land line phones are a must if you have a short term rental home.
