Click on the "gallery" section.

There's some other cool stuff there too.

Dogpatch USA - Underground Ozarks
I looked at the gallery. So sad. A true loss.

We moved back here in 77. Dogpatch was going strong then. I never went, even though we drove past it regularly. I guess I am a 'stick in the mud', but I always thought it was an embarrassment to Arkansas. ( I am from Idaho).

I'd hang on to it. Maybe one day Lil Abner will reappear?

Plenty of people agreed with you as I now learn. But I was just a youngin' so I didn't know any better.

As a theme park, in concept, I liked the idea. When I was a kid, SDC (Silver Dollar City) wasn't much of a place either ... not that it compares to major parks like Disneyland now. But I had thought that Dogpatch would give it a run for it's money. However, it didn't have the anchor in music like Branson, plus Shepard of the Hills.

But I truly loved "lil' abner" as a comic strip. As I have grown older, sadly I have learned more of the artist and some of his exploits. But in the inocents of my youth, it was such fun to read of "Iil Abner, Daisy May, and rest of Dogpatch". I still read them daily off Li'l Abner (http://www.comics.com/comics/lilabner/index.html - broken link)

This brings up a interesting point, that I think I'll do in a new post, off to make that happen ... grins
