Chateau Aux Arc. I'm not a big wine person but it's basically the only winery in the state whose product I've been able to drink.

You just missed the Wine Festival.

Wiederkehr Wine Cellars: Annual Weinfest

I don't know which is best, but I lived in Ozark for about 3 years in the 70s. Our favorite at that time was Wiederkehr.

Paris Hilton & Nicole Ritchie on "The Simple Life" stayed with a family across the street near Chateau Aux Arc in Altus. Someone should get Paris Hilton to promote Arkansas wine. It's pretty good to my taste, but I drink a lot of Oak Leaf Merlot I get at Walmart for $2.97 a bottle.

I must say the "Wiederkehr" Winery is a must. I haven't been there in a while, but at one time the best food ever was served in the old cellar there. Call before going, to be sure it is still open. I don't drink the wine from there, but it's not because of the wine itself. It's because my ancestors, (the Blansett family, great great grandpappy and others) are buried amidst the grapevines. The ancestoral cemetery is just down the little road that takes off to the side of the gift shop. It seems sorta like re-incarnation to me to be drinkin' the vino from there! But, I highly recommend the place. Check out Post Vineyards. Oh, the muskeedine (spelling?) wine is great! Also, don't mention the Blansett family. Seems there was some hostility of some sort or other! It still is not talked about, even though it happened in the 1800's. But, it's a really great place. Not like the Napa Valley though. More like the Washington State vineyards. Have fun.
