everyone seems to think the OP is going to school there but we have no clue.

I think people are assuming that there really is no other reason to go there. I think that is a fair assumption.

Me either. Thankfully, everyone does not have the same opinion.

No different than those who says gays and lesbians should move out of AR or not even move to the state if they want a more accepting environment.

I know a girl who is Asian from Arkadelphia--her dad a professor there. She was outgoing and well-loved there. Other than the occasional double take, it shouldn't be a problem.

it appears that the Op might just have been another troll, using racism as bait....
Well it does appear to be the best bait for the Arkansas forum..........

I would assume that you are coming to Arkadelphia to attend one of the 2 universities. In spite of having 2 universities in town, the general region is approximatley 20 years behind that of the West Coast (Arkansas is #49 in education, following close behind Mississippi, which comes in at#50).There are some perks to living in a more rural, educated community, but I would sincerely look at other states. People here are closed-minded. No, you may not experience overt racism, but it is racism just the same. The comment about not noticing an Asian student--well, minorities seem to "disappear" from the dominant culture's radar, ever-so conveniently. It's nothing to be upset about, it's just the way it is. As a Native Californian, I really enjoy the slow-paced life here in Arkansas. However, there is a downside to being too slow. I would not desire to raise children here, but it's a great place to visit on vacation and even attend school. However, I would not recommend staying beyond the age of 20-something.

As mentioned earlier, this sounds like a troll type and he/she hasn't come back. If this is the case, the reason for the positng is to do exactly what you are doing, give less than positive feedback and to open a can of worms. I, for one am not going to feed him anymore.
