Neither is the case. The cars on central avenue near the bathhouses are going 30 mph for petes sake. Tops. And further south near the mall? About 40mph tops. Laughable. Try Austin at 5pm . LOL There are ZERO traffic jams either. No Los Angeles or New Jersey traffic james.
This is funny. You dread driving to the grocery store?? What grocery store is on central? You mean Kroger? So funny. It's nothing and I'm a senior!
Suzzi,

I think it is all relavent. I happen to agree with you pretty much as we spent much of our lives in the true "big city" but to those who haven't they probably do find the traffic at little heavy. I remember going to the races opening day this past Feb. It was raining and yes, the traffic was a nightmere.

A lot of the congestion almost certainly revolves around events. I was in Hot Springs earlier this year right before a big race and traffic was a bit congested and slow, but still moving somewhat. Large events are always going to cause traffic problems. Try going anywhere in Fayetteville right after a Razorback game . It took two hours to go from the stadium to IHOP last year, and if you're familiar with the area, you know that's only about 4-5 miles. On a daily basis though, that drive would take five minutes or so. I noticed the same thing here yesterday- headed back from NLR around 10pm I got caught in traffic on the I-30 bridge and it took some time to get downtown and then back out west again. Turns out the highway dept. was doing some road work and had I-30 closed down to 1 lane right as an event at Verizon was getting out . Once again, bad traffic related to an event, but not the norm.

I'm not walking a mile with $200 of groceries, even on a nice day. I couldn't carry it all.

actually, these days, you can fit $200 worth of groceries in a couple of bags!

you can use one of those little roll-y carts, of course. but I was thinking more for quick trips for a few things, not the big weekly trip.

You know when I was 24 years old I worked with a girl when I was back home. She was very nice and was from Alaska. She was telling me she lived in Arkansas for a while and the cost of living was great. I told her I would like to see it sometimes. She told me that Arkansas is nice but to watch out, The people were kind of dumb down there. I have been here in Arkansas for years now, and yes the cost of living is great. The people here in Arkansas take a bit to get use too as in my opinion are a little more closed minded than the rest of the nation.
