EXACTLY...they are ALL going to react to the concusion from the explosions...its not looking well for Japan...and when the winds shift southeast towards Tokyo....very sad

Air dumping was a last ditch effort anyways. You see how much effort it takes to put out forest fires using this method. Given that in this case the target is relatively small and only a direct hit does any good at all the odds were long against this being able to work to begin with.

Default Japan nuclear plant questions

Most nuclear power plants have the iconic hyperbolic cooling towers. Why does Fukushima instead have the cubical towers?

These towers were painted blue with white specks - was this an esthetic thing that was supposed to look like snow? Otherwise why were they painted that way?

That story hit the news about 3pm or so yesterday. Apparently it was true for 45 minutes, than they went back in there and started working again.

However, I noticed all day, that a source I regularly check my email, yahoo.com, left that up there on their front page all day long.

In short, it happened, but 45 minutes later, they went back in. Apparently radiation count spiked briefly, than went back down again, and they went back in again.

Still a ton of things happening again today, I am sure. But that story is an old one, and short-lived one.
Thanks for clearing it up!

Nuclear power is way more efficient than fossil fuels or any other renewables for that matter. However, no matter how well toxic waste is stored, we can never tell how nature will act. For me, the risks outweigh the benefits because really, no body wants to get cancer or glow because of toxic waste.
