This is just an example of how the Philippines is not a unified nation.

This has been going on for centuries: the Moros fought the Spanish, the Moros later fought the Americans and then the Japanese, and today the Moros fight the Filipinos.

The Philippines has never been truly unified. We made alot of progress between 1898-1946 but as soon as we left they replaced the common language of English with Tagalog which inflamed all sorts of ethnic groups.

They have a different religion. They want independence from the beginning.
It is like in Spain too, they also have Eta.

Actually, a lot of Muslim Filipinos are moving in different part of the Philippines because of these rebels. First and foremost not everyone residing in Mindanao are Muslims. We have different ethnic or Indigenous group of Filipinos so they cannot claim the entirely Mindanao or to create a Muslim state. We have Indigenous group also in Luzon area and Visayas, The Government already assigned Nurmi Suari before as Governor for peace in ARMM but still they cannot find peace because most of the rebels are also not united Muslim people. The MILF was actually born from MNLF (Moro National Liberation Front) founded by Nurmi Suari because they are not satisfied with the rules and the advocate then the BIFF (Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters) used to be part of MILF (Moro Islamic Federation Front). Abu Sayyaff are different group doing Kidnapping and all. Some of these rebels do not care if you are Christian or Muslim, To be honest they are just doing this for Greedy and Power to claim the Mindanao because it is rich in Resources just take a look at some of the politician like the Massacre from the 2 Muslim Politician that killed dozens of people who buried the bodies to cover up the killing, The Ampatuan Massacre.

The Christian 'God's Army' was born because they always suffered from these attacks. They are known as Ilaga Group in Mindanao. They started carrying arms too because of the rebels who are doing terror acts in villages of non-muslim people of Mindanao. A lot of Filipino Muslims criticizing these rebel act because it gave terror for them and giving bad images of Islamic beliefs. We have so many indigenous group that also came in during the Pre-Colonization.

There's only few T'boli and Blaan who are Christian and Muslim but the 95% are Animist still. There's also Higaunon, Manobo, Teduray, Tagakaolo, Mansaka, Mandaya etc. Animist group. A lot of Filipino Muslim move in Luzon because of the terror act that they usually bring in Mindanao.

In Christian Majority area, we do not attack them if they are Muslims. They can practice whatever they believe in because majority Christian respect them and let them live peacefully. But these rebels gave bad images not just in the Philippines but all over the world who are doing terror act. We are all Human being, Instead we should respect HUMANITY and stop doing terror act because of religion.

The Government negotiate to MILF or the Moro Islamic Liberation Front who used to be part of MNLF or the Moro National Liberation Front, The Government already had a peace deal with MNLF during 1996 and just recently the MILF but the MNLF accused the government about neglecting the negotiation deal with MNLF (1996) so they did this, tried to use more than 100 civilians as hostage and human shield. MILF and MNLF who used to be one became rivalries what more if we gave them Muslim State of Mindanao, how can we assure peace of Mindanao? as well as the safety of non-muslim who belong to this Island.
