Pay do not differ much between 6th Singapore and 5th Hong Kong.
But you are right, Hong Kong people mainly dislike the Mainland Chinese and people from developing countries. They like the people from developed countries.
But if white men like these

Go Hong Kong instead.. It is ranked 5th .. And no xenophobic locals !!!
Singapore and HK are the best cities in Asia for the English speaking foreigners who can afford them. Not for the non wealthy. Goto developing countries and Mainland China for the cheap costs.
Singapore has no visible violence.
HK is now a battlefield.

Singapore has a much, much, much higher prevalence of English language usage and fluency than Hong Kong does. I know expats who make alright but not stellar salaries in Singapore and they are expats who seem pretty happy after they decided they did not have to eat the same way they do back in the US but instead eat as the locals did since that’s cuisines and produce that are grown and produced in the area, they did not need to have the sheer amount of square footage in their homes as they had in the US, but that living in smaller spaces was manageable and even had its advantages, and they did not need to get around in the same way as they had in the US, as the mass transit and densely built environment meant that they could forego having to purchase and maintain having their own car.
HK has protests, not warfare. These are quite different in the degree of violence and casualties that involves.
They are warfare like. All the travel warnings by different countries mention the protests often involve violence which are started by radical protestors, which may affect travellers in HK. A Japanese man was attacked by "protestors" in HK because he videoed them. Police has arrested people storing petrol bombs, remote controlled bombs, illegal pistols and bullets. True but bad for HK's economy and reputation as a a safe city. Protests in HK before 2019 had been mostly law abiding and peaceful. HSBC was damaged by "protestors" since new year day of 2020, western businesses are not saved, can also be targets of criminal damage by perceived pro western "protestors" .
That's why there are now many "Love Peace, Stop Violence" commercials on tvs and radios in HK.
There are no similar violence in Singapore because Singapore has very good law enforcement and heavy punishment.
But that was handled efficiently and in short order. No more riots. Perpetrators punished. Singapore isn’t the kind of place you want to publicly challenge authority using violence.
HK will fine passengers in all public transport without masks from this week due to rising number of covid patients.
The mask wearing rate of westerners in HK is far lower than the rates of Chinese, Filipinos, Indonesians, Indians, Pakistanis and Africans in HK. Most Asians in HK still wear masks in the hot summer. Some people may need to change or have to leave HK if they still insist masks are for fools and sick men of Asia only, as said by some in western countries.
