I disagree, but it seems like many posters think that the more socially liberal an Asian country is, the more Western it is.
But by this logic, then a socially conservative state like Oklahoma is less westernized than a socially liberal state like California. And a relatively conservative country like the USA would be less westernized than a more liberal country like Canada or Germany.
Do you seriously think Oklahoma is less westernized than California?
Would you say that Singapore is even more socially conservative than Japan? Which is more westernized?
How do you define "Westernized" in this aspect?
Singapore may be more Westernized in the sense that English is more widely spoken than in Japan, but it has tighter controls on the press and has many more stringent laws governing public behavior, with financial penalties (Singapore is a "fine" country).

Forget the laws. The average Singaporean is far more westernized in terms of their family life, in terms of their relationships, in terms of their aesthetics, than the average Japanese.
No need to forget the laws, Singaporean laws are from England's laws but not modern.
