I was thinking Melacca and Penang as well before I saw the first response. Singapore also has a few neighborhoods with that historic Peranakan architecture. I really like it in Singapore cause it sits on the backdrop of these modern skyscrapers...very cool juxtaposition.
Not sure if Little india in Singapore would count as a historic district.
