Yet, Americans don't reciprocate very well immigration wise. There are very few Americans in the Philippines (Asides from the 800,000 born during the Colonial Era which were exterminated by the Japanese because Americans pursued a "Europe First" policy in World War 2). I think there are about 600,000 American citizens in the Philippines with 250,000 Amerasians concentrated in Angeles, Clark and Manila. Funny considering how America has a population of 300+ Million whereas the Philippines only has 100+ Million yet there are more Filipinos in America than Vice-Versa.
American colonialism of last century was not the same model as the European kingdoms practiced. Once the American serviceman rotated out that was it except for the minority who married a local and stayed with her in the Philippines

Yes, Americans are lousy colonists who don't care about the nations that arose out of American colonization. Look at the Philippines and Liberia, the only nations that arose out of American colonization in Asia or Africa, they are dirt poor compared to their neighbors. Whereas look at Britain's colonies; Singapore, Canada or Australia, very rich.
And Americans don't care about the Philippine or Liberia, as usual, Americans only care about themselves.
Filipinos are ASIANS, and there are a LOT of similarities between Filipinos and Malaysians/Indonesians. It is true that Filipinos have a lot of American and Spanish influences, but Filipinos are still Asian in a lot of ways. Filipinos eat rice almost every meal, something in common with its Asian neighbors and not a single American/Hispanic country comes close to it. The farming communities in the Philippines have so much in common with the other Asian countries. Is there any place in the Americas that considers the water buffalo (aka carabao) an indispensable farm animal? The coconut is another thing that is commonly found, eaten, and is also central to the Filipino identity, and which it shares with many Asian countries. By comparison, while coconut plants can be found in parts of the Americas, it is mostly just a commercial crop. Tortillas, pupusas, arepas, etc. are very foreign to Filipinos.
I agree with you . btw also Filipinos there are a lot of similarities is many Austronesians , I can say eastern Indonesia like Flores ( NTT ) and Molucas are more Hispanic in culture than Filipino and those people look like a Portuguese mixed and they like to dance and party .. they many have western names ... their are very obedient to religion and majority are Christians
this they East Indonesians "NTT " looks like Brazilian
What happened in the Philippines was its creoles (Spanish descent) got "indigenized" instead unlike in Latin America where the creoles, mestizos, and indigenous "self-segregated" themselves. Just look at the racial politics of Venezuela and Bolivia. Tensions are largely defined by race. In the Philippines, it is defined by class.
See videos below
These creoles are just like the brown-majority, culture wise. It's not their descent that distinguishes them, but financial status. They have a lot more in common with the rich natives than white expats.
These folks would rather hangout with Manny Pacquiao and the rich Tsinoys than the American/European/Australian sexpats living on their pension money. Lol
I guess, we can say that these Philippine creoles are a "reverse oreo".
White in the outside, brown in the inside

Tortillas, Pupusas, Arepas are of American indigenous origin, not Spanish. Of course, you see this in the Americas. You really don't even see it in Spain
The same reason why the Philippine creoles eat putu, bibingka, Pinoy adobo, pancit, lumpia, biko, ube, pandan, sansrival - stuff you rarely see in Latin America. Not to mention, they also adopted some of the indigenous superstition.
Here is Peque Gallaga, himself of Spanish descent doing some "native sacrifice" to appease the spirits. This practice can still be seen in the Cordilleras (Igorotland)
The creoles are "more indigenous" than Filipino-Americans.
Jaime Fabregas. He is of Spanish descent from Bicol

Researches have uncovered documents pertaining to New Spain sending their convicts and vagrants to Manila as banishment at the pretense of military service. The colonial government in Manila was not happy about this, and this why the Philippine military under New Spain were largely composed of natives.
