I wonder if WallStreetJournal is political agenda of China Government. When I looked up the Asia News on their site for three days, I didn't see they put any news about this large protest in Vietnam.
I learned the protest happened over the weekend at many cites in Vietnam. Vietnamese doesn't want to lease land to China government for 99 years, because China always want to invade Vietnam at any period. They already built military base on the islands which belong to Vietnam. China will do no good to any place they come, but destroy the environment and human-right.
I never trust China.
A number of articles from various sources on the inter webs. All I did was to google the term "vietnam protests over 99 year chinese lease" Is this part of China's belt and road strategy?
Had not thought about that. A duty free manufacturing and export zone. Spent some time in Vietnam a couple of years ago, around Ho Chi Minh City and south. Would love to come back in the future to see more of the country. Very optimistic, and forward looking society or so it seemed to me.

I don't trust communist countries. Both countries have red flags
Not like China, Vietnam government is corrupt and weak. Vietnamese don't have a desire to invade others country. China use their economic power to manipulate the world market and life of others. They just want to spread their low-lives citizens over their neighbors like Lao and Cambodia.
@ earthlyfather
Vietnam still has many beautiful places until China bring their bad manufacturing practices to this country. That's why people protest against 99 years zone.

Allies or Enemy? Vietnam is already going through heavy grips of communism, even with hypocritical overtones of capitalistic activity. Never copying that giant behemoth. Make their own unique mode of self motivating peaceful atmosphere with zero troubles. Natives won’t ever pledge allegiance to another way. Calm continuing on with exclusive avoiding of excessive rebellion. Extremely rare the Vietnamese people are responding that seriously to mainland China. Matters won’t ever escalate extra. Taiwan-China is staying tranquil preventing qualms. Imagine even less problems with this entire minor ordeal.
