Transferred ownership at the Land Office, yesterday. Moving out on Monday. My ninth home sale. Second one in Thailand. I will be glad to answer questions that you all may have about the process. The weak Dollar allowed me to cut the price some, then I raised it, and suddenly big interest. I held it four years. Not my best buy, but not the worst either.

What made you think buying in Chiang Mai was a good idea?

What are some things that foreigners should know about Chiang Mai real estate?

.

Chiang Mai is often named one of the top cities on the planet. Not as hot as Bangkok. Foreigners can't own land by law, and there are ways to circumvent the law, but they are illegal. I got in near the end of a decent boom, and prices have been fairly flat since.

The appreciation was small compared to the much larger gains I made in Las Vegas and Phoenix, after the crash. So mostly from an appreciation standpoint Probably the most pleasant and safest neighborhood.

I will share the leading website for real estate in Thailand:[mod cut - ad]

New units cost 2.8 times more PSF, but only fetch 1.8 times the rent, compared to resales.

Are you married to a Thai? Or able to buy on your own accord - through corporations or buying condos where you can fully own?
