Why are there a lot of Fortune 500 companies started/founded in Japan in the 90s?

What are those companies' competitive advantages to the world consumer market?

Sounds like you want to high school homework questions answered.

Well I tell you, maybe your teacher is giving you a trick question since Japan was in the midst of an economic disaster all through the 1990s. This was the "lost decade" for Japan (actually 2 decades). Simple answer is I know of no Fortune 500 company started in Japan in the 90s and if there were any at all it certainly was not "a lot".

But also - there is google, do your own research and answer your own homework question.

None of those started in the 90's. OP will fail his exam if he put these down.

I didn't say they were, but pointed him to a list of the biggest companies in Japan, and eliminated two of the largest, with interesting facts about their beginnings. Go back to your cage.
