I live in south Louisiana, Cajun country. Many of our meals are based in rice. I’ve never seen anyone do that to rice ever! We rinse the rice and then cook the rice. Most of us use the old style rice cookers. Add rice, add water, put lid on pot, turn on. When it clicks, dings, or beeps then wait 5 minutes to start eating.
