In the past I had an acquaintance here in the States who was from India. I asked him a question about the monkeys in India and since then I've come up with a related question.
What is the population of monkeys in India approximately? I'm guessing it is in the millions.
Couldbe. Officially no one keeps track but They turn upin almost every hi du temple which are near mountains and with a lot of trees. I could see them even in batu caves in malaysia in huge numbers.
Who knows, who cares. Some monkey species in India have a form of Herpes that is extremely deadly to humans and roam some cities in armies, but animal rights activists insist on not exterminating them (PETA folks are generally a bunch of freaks, but they are on roids in India). The locals know to stay away from them and shutter their windows when they swarm through, but don't demand their extermination. It's mostly tourists who catch it, so stay away from the monkeys. There's a whole bunch of complacency in India about animals roaming around everywhere that's driven by Hinduism. As a nominal Hindu, I'd say that people in India are retards when it comes to animal control.
Uber-animal rights people are weirdos and enemies of humanity. India needs to do something about all the damn animals, including cows, that roam its cities and streets. It's high time that India exterminates all the stray animals in its cities. Stop being dumb and clean up your streets, India! Just say no to animal rights activists!!!
@Tylerjax: I didn't know about the diseases. I saw a picture of a monkey riding on a moped with a couple of people. I thought people can interact with them that is somewhat of a cross between a pet and a friend. Ex: A person knows a few, hangs out with them for a time, give them a treat or two, then part ways for the day.
@shanv3: I guess you know where my screen name comes from.
Years ago I asked my acquaintance if people can interact with the monkeys in India. He said if they are trained, otherwise they may bite.
They bite if you attack them ir snatch thier snacks.
Indians are too lax about that. They think its a form of god so encourage tjem by feefing snacks banansa etc. some villagers or nomads have them and perform tricks with the monkeys but its also a lost art now.
