This seems a bit like the Huawei concerns of the US, but in reverse.
If the shoe was on the other foot.......would the US be concerned?
Could also have complications for Musk/Tesla in China.
Maybe the Chinese might have to "nationalize" Tesla in China. The Russians have just done that with 400 western owned aircraft they re-registered in Russia.

It's funny to see a bully crying foul. I am definitely a fan of Musk now.

That's how arms races work. China can cry foul over this, but they've designated space as a military domain, and have been developing and testing anti-satellite missiles, hypersonic weapons, and satellites that can be maneuvered to grab and destroy existing satellites... The US had been sleeping on its space capabilities for for decades since there didn't seem to be any viable competition, but now that China is trying to play that to their benefit, of course the US is going to respond.

Also, I will add, the childish, bellicose indignation the CPC reacts with to literally any and everything that it perceives as a slight - which is pretty much anything short of fawning over it - doesn't exactly paint them as anything to taken seriously. They literally develop space weapons, announce their intentions, and brag about it, and then throw a tantrum when the US uses a rich nerd's satellite array to aid one of two third parties who are fighting.

The concept of private companies dominating space is concerning for different reasons. Especially if it becomes profitable industry with asteroid mining etc. How do you ensure these companies are following the law when they operate somewhere that’s under no country’s domain? Is there an Antarctica type agreement for Space yet?

Space does not belong to anyone, so what law are you talking about?

If you are the first to put flag on it or a fence around it, it belongs to you.

Edit: and can defend it.

Why does a principle YOU say applies in space, not also apply on earth.
