Anyone else going?

Christopher Hitchens is supposed to be there to accept an award from Richard Dawkins.

Christopher Hitchens to receive the Freethinker of the Year Award by the Richard Dawkins Foundation.

Sikivu Hutchinson will be there. PZ Myers will be there. Eugenie C. Scott will be there. Lots of great speakers are lined up. You can still get tickets at the door, btw. And, my granddaughter will be attending Camp Quest on Saturday.

I should be in bed, but had to post this blog with some pics for you guys! Hitchens, just wow! I got his autograph on his memoir Hitch22. Got Dawkins on the Magic of Reality. I got a picture with PZ Myers too. My friend and I both had kids who went to Camp Quest. That was really cool too. They actually extracted DNA from fruit.

This event was spectacular. So much to absorb. Lots of good people to talk to and lots of wonderful speakers and topics both Friday and Saturday. I will go back tomorrow too.

Here's another great link. Hitch got a question from a little girl about what books she should read. Amazing. He actually sat with her and her mom after the banquet.

This was an absolutely great convention. It also is getting lots of good publicity.

Everyone needs to sign up for action alerts for the lobbying group Secular Coalition for America | National advocacy for atheists, agnostics, humanists, and other secular Americans

Sean Fairchild presented this 10 point vision of a secular America
1. Respect for *all* our troops (picture of Stephen Hill)
2. Reproductive information based on science
3. Healthcare professionals must fulfill their professional duties (or get another job)
4. No religious bias in land use or employment
5. No bias in marriage law
6. Autonomy for end of life choices
7. No religious bias in school
8. Congress (and other political bodies) will include secular Americans
9. Children shall be protected from religious abuse (he has been working on getting information together about kids dying and being physically maimed due to medical neglect, etc.)
10. Medical and Scientific innovation shall be dedicated to health and advancement (example was stem cell research being supported).

His talk was quite inspiring and I had no idea we actually had lobbyists working for *us* in Washington.

On March 24, 2012, there will be a Rally for Reason in DC. I would love to go, but I don't know if I will be able too. Get the word out to as many people as possible.
